How to transition from plans to plan?
1. Review the End Date of Your Current Plan
Before adding a new plan, check when your current training cycle ends. Make sure there's a natural transition point — like a recovery week or a buffer period — between the two plans to avoid overlap or burnout.
2. Remove or Archive the Old Plan (If Needed)
If your previous plan was added via the training plan library, you can remove it by navigating to the "Calendar" view, selecting the plan start date, and clicking “Remove Training Plan.” This won’t delete past workout data — it just removes the structured plan from the calendar.
3. Add the New Plan
Go to the “Training Plans” section and select your new plan. When adding it, you’ll be prompted to choose a start date. Be sure this aligns with your current fitness level and upcoming goals. Final Surge will automatically populate your calendar with the new workouts.
4. Adjust for Overlap or Gaps
If there’s any overlap or downtime between plans, you can manually drag workouts or insert recovery/easy weeks to create a smooth transition. Use this time to recharge physically and mentally if needed.
5. Communicate with Your Coach (If Applicable)
If you’re working with a coach through Final Surge, talk with them about the goals of the new plan. They can help you tweak training zones, workout types, and race timelines to fit your evolving fitness.
6. Update Your Settings and Goals
After transitioning, check your athlete settings (like threshold paces, zones, or current weight) to ensure they're up to date. This helps the new plan align better with your current capabilities.
Final Tips:
- Avoid abrupt transitions — ease into the new plan if it’s more demanding.
- Listen to your body — if you’re fatigued, start the new plan with a lighter week.
- Reflect on the previous block — what worked and what didn’t? Apply those insights moving forward.
A thoughtful transition keeps training consistent, productive, and sustainable — all while staying focused on your long-term goals.
