How do I know which plan is best for me?

I built the library of McMillan training plans to make it super simple to find the best plan for you. And, then the training platform and app allow you to easily modify the plan so it can flow with life, keep you injury-free and race your fastest.


You can also use our training plan recommendation tool on our website. Step 1) use the McMillan Calculator on the homepage of the website. Step 2) Scroll down below your results and select the orange “Help Me Choose My Plan” button below or go to it directly here.  

Step 3:  Watch the video and click the gray “Help Me Choose My Plan” button on this next screen. 


A window will pop up allowing you to enter your current fitness times/goal times. After entering this information, click “recommend my plan.” 


After clicking the recommend a plan button, you’ll then be taken to a screen where you’ll see all recommended training plans for your goals. Scroll through and view sample workouts and sample weeks of training to preview before purchase, or join a free trial of Run Team to explore multiple plans and levels at once. 


If you are a Run Team member, you can also access this feature by selecting the “Training Plans” “training plans” tab in the left hand menu of your calendar. You will then see the Training Plans recommendation tool at the top of the list and can utilize it from there. 


Selecting a training plan within Run Team for mobile users OPTION 1: 


Step 1: Once logged in, go to menu on the left hand side of your Final Surge app. 

Step 2: Scroll down to “Training Plans.”

Step 3: Search/browse for the training plan you would like to apply to your calendar. 

Step 4: Select the plan you would like to apply, and hit “apply plan.”

Step 5:  Select the plan you would like to apply, and enter your current fitness and goal times. 


Step 6:  Select your start and/or end dates and select “apply.” The plan will now be viewable in your calendar. 

Selecting a training plan within Run Team for mobile users OPTION 2: 

Step 1: Once logged in, click on the plus sign in your calendar and select “add a training plan.” 


Step 2: Select “apply plan” 

Step 3: Select the plan you would like to apply, and enter your current fitness and goal times. 

Step 4: Select your start and/or end dates and select “apply.” The plan will now be viewable in your calendar. 

Run Team Resources Access for Mobile Users - Option 1: 

Step 1: Go to left hand menu and select “McMillan Run Team.” 


Run Team Resources Access for Mobile Users - Option 2: 

Step 1: Go to the left hand menu and select “Files and Resources.” 

Step 2: View Files & Resources Libraries and select your choice.
